Radfahren - Freizeitspaß in der Region

The St. Wendel area is inviting for cyclists, with its untouched nature, multiple lookouts, and sightseeing opportunities, as well as well-signposted cycle paths. The dense network of around 300 kilometers of cycling paths enables you to plan a tour with a customized combination of routes. There's something for everyone, no matter what your fitness level or how much time you have, from the family-friendly flat-land tour, to the fully signposted circular tracks, to the steep and hilly altitude excursion. With its many MTB paths, the St. Wendel area is also known as a paradise for mountain bikers. The town of St. Wendel has been known for years as a cycling mecca, and has already hosted world championships and German national championships.

The connections to cross-regional cycling paths, such as the Saarland or Nahe cycling routes, as well as the many combination possibilities, make this area the most popular cycling region in Saarland.

Tours on flat land, such as the Wendelinus cycle and hiking path (12.3 km) and the Fritz-Wunderlich path (24 km) are especially suitable for families with children. They take you across former railroad lines and are thus easy to travel on. The circular tracks around the Bostalsee (Bostal lake, 8 km) and the Primstalsperre (Prims dam, 13 km) have virtually no incline and are well-suited to a family trip. Circular tracks such as the Schaumberg-Radweg (40 km) or the Ostertal-Höhen-Radweg (39 km) are somewhat more demanding in comparison.

A map with recommendations for tours in the region, as well as a cycling tour planner with the most beautiful cycling routes in Saarland, are available at reception. A special set of maps for mountain bikers is available at the Bostalsee tourist information office. Some of the fully signposted mountain bike tours in the region have inclines of up to 31% and are demanding in terms of fitness and technique. Possible connections and shortcuts are also described in the brochure.
